NASA Ames Research & Visitor Center

Located in the heart of California's Silicon Valley, Ames Research Center is one of 10 NASA field centers. Most notably involved with entry, descent and landing technologies, astrobiology and airborne science, Ames plays a vital role in all of NASA's missions and aeronautics programs. Operating on an annual budget of $900 million and the dedication of 2500 employees, Ames has provided NASA with some of the most critical advancements in aviation to date.


Hours -

The Exploration Center is open Tuesday through Friday 10:00am - 4:00pm and on weekends 12:00pm - 4:00pm.

Public Transportation to/from AMES/Moffett

Hop the VTA light rail to the Caltrain and downtown Mountain View Stations and take a two mile taxi ride to the NASA Ames Research Center. For transport by bus, catch bus #51 from De Anza College to Ames Center.

Security at Moffett

To maintain security at Moffett Field, all visitors will are required to show a photo ID upon entry at the main gate.


  • Museum Guided Tours

    NASA Ames Research Center does not offer tours to the public. However, guided tours are available of the Moffett Museum and the Ames Exploration Center.
