Stanford Sports

Appearing in 23 bowl games, including the 2013 Rose Bowl Champions, Cardinal Football is one the most decorated programs in the history of college sports. History of the University

Opening its doors in 1891, Stanford University was founded by former Governor of California, Leland Stanford and his wife Jane Lathrop Stanford. Offering free tuition until 1930, Stanford established itself as the only nondenominational and coeducational institution of its kind. Home to some of the top scholars in the world, Stanford touts over 54 Nobel Prize winning faculty and alum, and founders of some of the most prominent corporations, including Google, Nike, HP, Yahoo and Sun Microsystems.
